Whitten Insurance held off a tough South Panola Veterinary Hospital team to claim the 12 and under Dogtag Tournament Championship at J.P. Hudson Park Thursday night.

Whitten Insurance, league champs, won 6-2.

SP Vet scored two runs in the first inning and Whitten’s defense buckled down and kept them off the board the rest of the game.

Whitten took a 3-2 lead after the second inning and never looked back.

In the first game of the day, SP Vet took on Total Comfort and slid by with a 6-5 win.

The game was tied at five going to top of the sixth. On a single RBI, SP Vet won on a walk off run.

In the second game, Whitten had to employ its heavy hitters to win 12-10 over Special T’s. 

Four players went 4-for-4, scoring 10 of the 12 runs.

Special T’s got a lot of help from hitter Aleigha Sanders who had a homerun, two doubles and a single.
