Two arrested over weekend for shoplifting

Batesville police made arrests for shoplifting at Walmart on Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15, after the store’s loss prevention officer alleged that they had concealed merchandise with intent not to pay for it.

Patrolman J. P. Wallace arrested Savannah Simpson after she was alleged to have concealed $77.55 worth of merchandise, according to his report.

After carrying the suspect to the police department, the officer learned that Simpson had an outstanding warrant in Grenada County and she was transported to the Panola County Jail, according to the report.

The following day BPD patrolman Justin Davis arrested a juvenile shoplifting suspect for having concealed fishing equipment worth a total of $29.21.

The youth was released to his mother after Davis completed at juvenile referral, the report states.
