Nancy Jane Foshee Aven

COURTLAND––Nancy Jane Foshee Aven, 80, of Courtland, passed away on April 7, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Batesville.
  She was born on September 8, 1935 in Greenwood, to Jimmie Mae Long Foshee and John William Foshee.  She was a member of Courtland United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking and taking care of family.  
Mrs. Aven is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Aven Roberts (Mike) and  one son Gerald M. Aven, Jr. (Debbie) all of Courtland; two sisters, Mary Henderson of Water Valley, and Ruby Kennedy of Jackson; one brother, Freddie Foshee of Batesville and 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
 She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald M. “Ted” Aven, Sr.; one son, Louis William Aven; her parents; two sisters, Margaret Dean and LaVera Dean; four brothers, Chester Harrell, Harry Harrell, Dewey Foshee and Joe Foshee.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Dickins Funeral Home.  Interment was in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Batesville.

Margaret Ann Addison Bailey

SARDIS––Margaret Ann Addison Bailey, 71, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016, at Sardis Community Nursing Home.  She graduated from University of Southern Mississippi, where she was active in Phi Mu Sorority.  She worked at Renasant Bank in Sardis and was a member of Union Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 11, 2016 at St. John Catholic Church in Sardis. Burial was held in Union Cemetery. Ray Nowell Funeral Home-Sardis Chapel had charge of arrangements.

Kent Brock Jr.

SARDIS––Kent Brock, Jr., 72, of passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Desoto in Southaven.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sardis where he served as a deacon.  He was a Mason and served twice as Master of Raleigh Lodge in Memphis.  
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Sardis. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson, Tenn.Visitation will be at the church from 9-11 a.m. preceding the funeral services. Memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church in Sardis. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home – Sardis Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Margaret Modean Zinn Brooks

Margaret Modean “Moe” Zinn Brooks, 94, of Batesville, MS, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN.
She was born in Sarepta, MS on January 18, 1922, to Zoula Toliver Zinn and Fred Zinn. A member of Calvary Baptist Church for 59 years, she was homemaker, loved her family, and enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by one daughter, Glenda Davis (Gerald) of Olive Branch, MS; one son, Tommy Brooks (Judy) of Waveland, MS; one sister, Yavonne Brown of Crowder, MS and two brothers, Wilbur Cannon of Crowder, MS ad Jerry Cannon of Clinton, MS; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben D. Brooks and her parents. Dickins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Mamie Mack-Eppenger

LONGTOWN––Mamie Mack-Eppenger, 93, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at her residence.
Services were held Saturday at Longtown Church of God. Burial was in Askew Grove Cemetery. Eppenger was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Tate County.
