Police urge citizens report anything out of ordinary

By Rupert Howell
While turning over weekend occurrence reports, Batesville Assistant Police Chief Jimmy McCloud asked citizens, “If you see something out of the way, give us a call,” while emphasizing the department’s “if you see something, say something” campaign of community policing.
McCloud noted that door hangars are being placed in strategic locations encouraging citizens to report criminal or suspicious activity and asking, “Don’t wait until three weeks later,” to report something out of the way.
Batesville Police Department number is (662) 563-5653 and email is batespd@panola.com. Of course immediate emergencies need to be directed on 911.
McCloud emphasized that a little information about unusual activity can go a long way in the solving and prevention of crimes as well as protecting your neighborhood when known in a timely manner.
