State of Emergency

Supervisor board president Cole Flint was headed to the Emergency Management Office at press time Thursday to declare a State of Emergency as heavy rains fell on already wet ground causing flooding in many areas including west Panola County. There were reports of sandbagging homes on Dummy Line Road, the closing of Figg Road in southwest Panola and Pumping Station Road in northwest Panola west of Pleasant Grove where a levee breach occurred. Local flooding is nothing new to Daniel Pride of Pride Road near Curtis as his yard has turned into a lake when heavy rains fall ever since water from land to the north and east was all diverted to Bobo Ditch, he said. Pine Lake Drive near the Lafayette County line was also closed by press time Thursday. Stay in touch with current developments at panolian.com and our Facebook page.
