Lady Tigers take down first two opponents in Cleveland tournament

The South Panola Lady Tigers started off the Cleveland Tournament on a high note with back-to-back wins Monday and Tuesday.

They played the final game Thursday day but the score was not available at press time.

South Panola (4-3) squashed Ray Brooks 62-35 Monday evening and then turned around and squashed Greenville St. Joe 83-21.

Against Ray Brooks Alexis Smith was the leading scorer with 15 points, followed by Jasmine Wright with 13 points and Chloe Morgan with 11. 

Other scorers include Marshala Doyle, eight points; Christy Hubbard, four points; and Breanna Bland, three points. Rounding out the scoring with two points each are Sydney Morgan, Temaye Williams, Gracie Holloway and Kaniya Ford.

Against St. Joe, the junior varsity squad played most of the last three quarters. Fifteen players scored for the Lady Tigers.

Chloe Morgan led in scoring with 14 points with Alexis Fondren the only other player in double figures with 10. 

Other scorers include Alexis Smith and Breanna Johnson, eight points each; Wright, seven points; TyQuera Victom, six points; and Marshala Doyle, five points.

Scoring four points was Gracie Holloway, followed by Sydney Morgan, Breanna Bland and Shantrika Burton, with three points each.

Rounding out the scoring with two points were Williams, Ford, Tracie Benson and Sedria Joy.

The Lady Tigers will not play at home before the Christmas holiday break. Tuesday, the Lady Tigers travel to Clarksdale for non-district action at 6 p.m. Next Friday, they will travel to Lafayette and the jr. varsity teams will start at 4 p.m.
