The Mobile Food Pantry will make a stop in Como at Cistern Hill Church on Tuesday, July 21, from 1-3 p.m.
A truckload of produce, frozen meat, bread and other items will be distributed by volunteers from the North Panola Church Collaborative to families who have been issued vouchers.
Pre-screening for vouchers will be held at Cistern Hill July 2 from 2-6 p.m. and July 18 from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. and at Sardis United Methodist Church on July 7 from 10:30 a.m.– 5:30 p.m.
The churches of the collaborative raise the funds for every-other-month food distributions to needy families in the North Panola area. The food is purchased from, and delivered by, the Mid-South Food Bank in Memphis.
The Members of the Collaborative are: Sardis United Methodist, Cistern Hill, Como United Methodist, Como Chapel, Como Baptist, Hammond Hill Baptist, Sardis Baptist, Holy Innocents Episcopal, Wesley Chapel, Walton Chapel, Como Church of Christ, and Cherry Street Baptist Church.
At the last distribution, in May, the group served 348 families.
Families who receive government assistance in the form of TANF or SNAP benefits or SSI are eligible.
The distribution is for families in the following zip code areas: 38619, 38666, 38621 and 38665.
There will be no on site registration.
