Seventeen indicted by Grand Jury

Two Sardis men have been indicted for the January 4 armed robbery of Metcal Raduah Salman.

The indictments were handed down by the Panola County Grand Jury, First District, during its April term. The indictments became public after May 27 when deputies of the Panola County Sheriff’s Department had served defendants with copies of the indictments.

Rodney Marcel Davis, 24, and Cornelius Dewayne Toliver, 21, were indicted for conspiracy and the armed robbery of Salman. Davis was freed on $2,500 bond; Toliver on $5,000 bond following their arrests, according to the indictment file.

Felony DUI
Grand jurors also indicted an Oxford man for felony DUI following his February 7 arrest in Panola County.

Antonio Deangelo Phillips, 33, of Oxford was indicted for felony DUI on one count and as an habitual offender on one count. The indictment lists two prior DUI convictions in 2011 and a dwelling burglary conviction in 2003.

Vehicle burglaries
A man accused of victimizing three Panola citizens during an early February burglary spree was also indicted by the Grand Jury.
Kenneth Dewayne Wooten, 28, is alleged in six counts to have burglarized trucks belonging to Cody Edlin and Carlton Hayes III, and to have stolen assorted personal property from each.
Wooten is also alleged to have burglarized a storage building that belonged to Mike Lanier, stealing personal property in that incident as well. Following his February 3 arrest, he was released on $15,000 bond.

Felony mischief
Jesse Cain Nelson, 18, and Michael Dale Cummins, 19, both of Sarah, were indicted for conspiracy, felony malicious mischief and burglary stemming from a March 18 break-in and property destruction at the home of Draven Cole. Both are free on $5,000 bond set following their March arrests.

Vehicle thefts
Carl Jason Lindsey, 41, of Baldwin was indicted for grand larceny  in the theft of a pickup, refrigerator and washing machine from Jerry Cummins. The indictment file contained no bond information on Lindsey.

Rachael McCall Mann, no age or address available, was indicted for the felony taking of a motor vehicle in the January 26 theft of Gary Seger’s 2010 Dodge Challenger Super Bird Road Runner. She had been released on $10,000 bond on Feb. 3.

Indicted for drug charges
Kristi Rene Hynes, 24, was indicted for three counts of sale of Lorazapam and one count of sale of clonazepam, The former is often prescribed for anxiety disorders; the latter, for treatment of seizures and panic attacks, according to drugs.com.

The indictment alleges that Hynes sold the controlled substances to a confidential informant on four occasions between March 4, and April 7, 2014.

The Panola County jail log states that Hynes, 407 Alcorn St., Sardis.  was arrested Feb. 13 and released on $5,000 bond Feb. 15, 2015.

Tori Kentrell Osborn, 33, was indicted on two counts, the first alleging his possession between .1 gram and two grams of cocaine, the second alleging his possession of less than 30 grams of marihuana, both on March 20.

One gram equals .035274 ounce.

The court file states that he was released on $2,500 bond March 24.

Stanley Lavell McKinney, 30, was indicted for two counts of sale of marihuana to a confidential informant, the first on Jan. 10 and the second on Jan. 24, 2015. Both counts allege sales of 30 grams or less.

Gary Elton Segar, 59, of Sardis, Cassy Michelle Feathers, 33 of Coldwater and LaDonna Sherie Johns, 27 of Memphis were indicted for alleged conspiracy and possession of between 10 and 30 grams of cocaine on August 20, 2014.

The two counts are amended to state that Feathers is also charged as a recidivist offender because she had previously been convicted in DeSoto County for possession of between 10 and 20 grams of cocaine in Dec., 2013.

Regina Antoinette Duncan, 42,  and Karishma Latrice Duncan, 23, both of Crenshaw were indicted for one count each of possession of between .1 gram but less than two grams of cocaine. The possession was alleged to have occurred on August 20, 2014.

Ozell Hibbler, 52, of Crenshaw was indicted for possession of between two and 10 grams of cocaine on May 24, 2014. Hibbler remains free on $25,000 bond posted in June, 2014.
