Northwest will broadcast from new radio station

BATESVILLE – For the first time in nearly four decades, Northwest Ranger football will have a new radio broadcast home for the 2015 season, the sports information department announced on Friday.
Northwest football will now be heard on WHKL 106.9 FM, “Kool 107” out of Batesville.
The station will carry all nine regular season games plus any postseason games, with Graham Doty (play-by-play) and John Darnell (color) on the call.
In addition to the game broadcasts, the station will also air a pregame show 30 minutes prior to kickoff and a postgame wrap-up immediately following each contest.
WHKL replaces longtime broadcast home WQLJ, Q 93.7 out of Oxford, which previously aired selected Ranger sporting events for over 35 years.
Northwest’s move to WHKL, a three-year deal running from 2015-18, gives Ranger fans new options for listening to broadcasts this season.
Fans will now be able to listen online by clicking the Ranger link at www.wble101.com and on any smartphone device by using the Tune-In Radio app (enter Kool 107).
In addition, all games will be video streamed live at www.njcaatv.com/nwccrangers.
“I am beyond excited to move forward with this partnership which will enhance our coverage area in northwest Mississippi and nationwide through online streaming,” sports information director Kevin Maloney said. “We’re working hard to grow our fan base and we are confident that our new partner will help us achieve that goal. We’ve had a great relationship with WQLJ for nearly 40 years but it was just time for a change.”
The first broadcast game is scheduled for Saturday, August 29 at 7 p.m. when the Rangers open their 2015 campaign on the road at Jones County.
