The American Legion baseball race got a little tighter as the Yankees handed the league-leading Royals a 10-0 loss in five innings Thursday night to close within one game at the seasons half way point.

Dre’ Moore drove in three runs while Caleb West delivered a two-run single as part of a six-run third inning to help guide the Yankees in the victory. Caleb Tutor added a RBI single in the fifth while Hunter West provided a RBI groundout in the third. Caleb West led the Yankees (4-3) with two singles while Bowen Williams and Moore registered singles.

 Williams and Moore threw two innings each while Brandon Henson pitched the fifth and final inning. Ryan Weeks, Nathan Massey, Ben Smith and Dalton Barefoot all collected singles for the Royals who fell to 5-2 on the season. Luke Daniels, Braydyn Lee, Barefoot and Tanner Robertson all saw time on the hill for the Yankees.

The second game of the night came down to the wire as the A’s plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth to earn the win and improve to 2-5 on the campaign.

 The Red Sox (3-4) added a run in the top of the fifth that closed the margin to 6-5 but had the tying run thrown out at the plate to end the game.

 Brayden Locke sparked the A’s victory with a two-run double in the fourth while Chris Brown and Gavin Towles chipped in with RBI singles. Brandon Henson also provided a run-scoring single in the second inning. Luke Ellis and Anderson Wilder pitched two innings each while Brown earned the save with one inning of relief work.

 Lige Simmerman paced the Red Sox at the plate with two singles and a pair of RBI’s. Luke Noah and Luke Weldon threw two innings each.
