Sylvester L. Young

COLDWATER––Sylvester L. Young, 54, died Saturday, January 31, 2015. He was the father of Cynthia Strickland, Suresa Young and Stephanie Young, all of Como and brother of J.W. Jackson of Como.

Services will be held Saturday, February 7 at noon at Zion Hill M.B. Church in Senatobia. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time. Visitation will also be held Friday from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Rodgers Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Young was a police officer.

Survivors along with his daughters and brother include: daughters, Gwendolin Powers of Corman, Cartillia Scruggs of Memphis and LaKeva Scruggs of Marietta, Ga.; two sisters, Marie L. Young and Bernita Smith, both of Coldwater; brothers, B.J. Jackson of Senatobia, Henry Jackson Jr. of Coldwater, Andrew Young of San Antonio, Raney Young of Charleston, S.C., Levern Young of Abbeville and Robert Young of Junction City, Kansas; 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
