Two local projects, one in Como and another in Sardis, are included in Delta Regional Authority’s investment of nearly $3.6 million in federal and local resources aimed at Delta small business owners, families, and communities and designed to grow the region’s economy and create jobs, Delta Regional Authority Federal Co-Chairman Chris Masingill announced.

Nine new investments, from the construction of a primary health care center to building renovations and water and sewer upgrades, leverage more than $1.3 million in federal resources into nearly $3.6 million in total public and private investment for the Mississippi Delta and are predicted to help create and retain 130 jobs for local residents.

Relocation of a City of Sardis’ water line to avoid road traffic as part of larger transportation infrastructure improvement project to increase access for local business and industrial activity has been approved according to the DRA news release.

The DRA investment in Sardis of $76,590.36 is being leveraged with other public investment of $29,784.50 and a total project cost of  $110,406.50.

Improvements to Como Wastewater Treatment Facility include site work, pipe, disinfection system, post treatment aeration and electrical work to help bring the town into DEQ compliance.  A DRA Investment of $150,000 will fulfill the total project cost according to DRA’s new release.
