BPD Detective Captain Paul Shivers said that information from the investigation will probably be turned over to the district attorney’s office to go before a grand jury before charges are filed.

The damage in late May was caused by two pickups that were driven onto the field and in large circles, leaving “doughnut” tire impressions on the surface.

Shivers said that the investigation hinges on coordination with the South Panola School District and District Attorney John Champion to determine the cost of the damage repair. The cost is expected to exceed $1,000. Exceeding $1,000 would establish a felony malicious mischief charge, the detective captain said.
