Victims in the shooting that occurred Memorial Day night around 9 p.m. at a residence on Hayes Street were Keounte Turner, 20, and Oxcavious Poole.

Poole was treated and released from Tri-Lakes Monday night. Turner remains in the Med in Memphis.

Policemen blocked off Hayes and Ozbirn Streets. Both wounded males were taken to Tri-lakes Medical Center and Turner was flown to the Med.

Det. George Williford said Turner was alert and talking when he left Tri-Lakes and the detective has remained in touch with the family.

Williford said Thursday that he will travel to the Med today (Friday) and check on the extent of Turner’s injuries as well as interview the victim.

“We’re still trying to put the pieces together,” Williford said Tuesday afternoon adding, “All that I can tell you right now is one group doesn’t like the other.

“This was not a random shooting,”  Williford noted, stating, “I refuse to give them credibility as being in a gang but these two groups of people do not like each other,” he said.

Williford said the victim released from Tri-Lakes was being uncooperative stating, “Nobody’s talking right now.”

The BPD detective said that was not unusual, noting that people would talk later.

A reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and Williford said he or Detective Paul Shivers could be contacted at 563-5653.

Williford asked that anyone in the area or who has any information at all about the Monday night incident, “Please call.”
