Sunday break-in yields nothing for burglar

By Rupert Howell
Nothing has been reported stolen, but a break-in at a location near the vicinity of other break-ins was reported on King Street in Batesville over the weekend according to Patrolman Nick Johnson’s incident report.

The report stated the resident returned home Sunday morning after leaving the afternoon before to find a door open inside the house that was closed when they left.

Further observation revealed a broken window and blinds, “all torn up,” according to the report
Neighbors later stated that they had seen a light around the vehicle parked at the home  about 8:45 p.m. the previous night.

BPD Lieutenant Sossaman and Detective Jeremiah Brown joined Patrolman Johnson at the scene and determined the point of entry was the back left side of the house where a window and screen had been “busted out and torn into pieces.”

Assistant Chief Don Province confirmed Monday that nothing has been reported missing from the King Street home.

That neighborhood has seen frequent home entries in recent months.
