Residents should have their garbage containers set out by 6 a.m. to insure they’re not missed, according to the county’s sanitation director, Jennifer Jackson.

Jackson explained this week that new and different truck drivers may take different paths to complete the days’ rounds and may not be at a specified road or street at a specific time of day.
She also stated that garbage pickup during the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s will go as usual on Mondays and Tuesdays of December 23 and 24 and December 30 and 31.

Sanitation department workers will take a one day holiday and be back in their trucks on Thursdays, one day behind normal schedule for the remainder of those two weeks.

The department director also reminds residents that a recycling bin for electronic items such as televisions, computers and printers is located at the Panola County Transfer Station on McNeely Road just east of Courtland.

The transfer station also receives rubbish and garbage through the week and on the first and third Saturday morning of the month.

Recycling bins for paper, cardboard and plastic are located in Batesville on Van Voris Street 24-7.
