South Panola defeated Memphis White Station 42-27 for the season home opener.
Darrell Henderson returned a punt 84 yards on the Tiger’s first drive to start the scoring. Ephraim Kitchens had two interception returns for touchdowns. Brady Smith had one interception return for a touchdown.
Rip Kirk was 7 of 17 for 120 yards with one 39 yd TD to Reginald Morris.
Oluwain Hoskins had the only rushing TD of 18 yards. He carries the ball 11 times for 53 yards.
Kitchens lead the Tiger’s defense with six tackles, two interceptions, three pass deflections and a fumble recovery.
Matthew Williams was six of six on PATs for the night for the Tigers.
The Spartans beat the Tigers stat wise in just about every area.

North Delta opened its season with a 49-27 loss to Pillow Academy. 

Though they are in different classes, North Panola considers Rosa Fort of Tunica a rivals. The rivalry seems to be heating up through the years as North Panola fields a better team.
Friday night, it did not seem to be much of a contest as the Lions took back the opening kickoff for a 91-yard touchdown.
Rosa Fort went ahead 20-0 in the first quarter before North Panola’s Darrius Thomas returned a kickoff for a 95-yard touchdown with 8:02 left in the quarter. At the end of the first quarter, Rosa Fort had a 26-12 lead after Justin Connor scored on a six-yard run with 1:06 left.

At the half, Rosa Fort led 32-18. North Panola’s lone score was a 14-yard pass from quarterback Jatavius Farmer to Willie HIbbler with 11:49 left in the first half, which lasted 1 hour and 40 minutes. Both teams were held scoreless in the third quarter.

North Panola scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, a two yard run by Farmer and a 20 yard pass from Farmer to Hibbler to pull within eight points, but Rosa Fort controlled the ball the last six minutes of the game and denied the Cougars a chance to even up the score.
