Preseason has been a whirlwind but it is almost over.

For the first time ever, The Panolian has produced a football preseason magazine, Pigskin Preview 2013 and we are so excited.

The last couple of years our tab has grown so much that we have had to separate the teams into two sections.

Now, all the teams are under one cover. We have also expanded our coverage and gotten more in-depth with our articles.

In addition to a preseason look at North Delta, North Panola and South Panola, we also look into the coaching duo of father and son, Arnie and South Oakes. Referees are people, too. Read their side of the jobs they do on the field.

The teams are usually led by sets of individuals who put aside glory for the betterment of the team. We picked out 12 players who we think will have impacts on their teams this year, four from each team. Their stories are found with their teams’.

Meet the individual players on the teams and the seniors who lead them. Also meet the South Panola band and varsity cheerleaders of all schools.

An apology to the junior high cheerleaders as there was not enough room to include everything but they are featured in today’s issue of The Panolian.

In order to get this magazine together and get it out to you in time for the football season openers Friday, it took Panolian and school officials working together.

A big thanks go to the football coaches, cheerleader coaches and sponsors and band directors for getting the students together for photos to be taken earlier than normal. It was a big undertaking and I appreciate it.

The public does not always know what it takes to get players and others in and out of their uniforms and then get ready to get on the field for practice.

We are extremely proud of this first football edition and hope that fans will be too.

Print subscribers got theirs in the mail today, but everyone else can come by the office and buy one for $3 or see me at Football Frenzy tonight on the square.

So, finally, in 3 days, we can say football season is here.
