Letter to the editor

Christ assuages hardships of this world, invites all to come to Him

I Ruby Ellis, out of concern, felt strongly to write this letter. We are faced with so many hardships: jobs, death, drugs, bills, family and sickness, just to name a few, but whatever we are going through there’s hope if we make the right choices.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

There are so many times we overlook words when we read, words of importance. Look at the words “for God.” Why is this so important? First, we need to know who God is.

In Genesis 1:1 we see He was in the beginning and in the beginning He (God) created the heaven and the earth. As you read on, you’ll read how He spoke things, and what He said, it appeared. He is the divine owner of everything (Psalms 24:1).

In Revelation 22:13 we find out He is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. This means He is self existent, all powerful and eternal. We can put our trust in Him. (Psalm 37:3) because He is proven. He is able!

Here we have an all powerful, eternal God who “so loved.” We can look the word love up and we’ll see it is the high esteem that God has for His human children.

Love has many meanings and there are different kinds of love, but none like the love of God. Why would I write this? Go back to the scripture John 3:16.

He “so loved the world.” World here is represented as sinners. The word says, “but commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

God’s love is more than a feeling or a cold chill running through your body. Love is an action word. God took action by giving. He gave. No one asked God to give, but He gave out of His love for His people or children.

What are you giving? Is it something good or bad? He gave his only begotten Son.

He let go what He admired and loved because of love, His only. He didn’t have anything else to give, but Himself. (John 1:1, 14)

He “gave His only begotten son” for the remission of sin. Adam and Eve had sinned (Genesis 3:6). For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23).

God gave His son (Jesus) to pay off our sin debt. We are sinners and deserve death. But Jesus died in our place. He was crucified, buried and on the third day he rose. (Luke 24:16)
Jesus redeemed us with his blood and set us free in his resurrection.

“That whosoever”– it doesn’t matter who you are, a policeman, fireman, a teacher, alcoholic, drug user, man or woman, boy, girl, adulterer, fornicator. All you have to do is believe in Him (Jesus) and receive your gift of eternal life. Jesus is life (John 14:6); to continue in sin, God forbid (Romans 6:12).

If you do that, believe in him, you “should not perish,” you will not be destroyed in death “but have everlasting life.” You will live forever and ever without end. Holy and acceptable unto Christ.

Since so much is going on in the world, people dieing, suffering, hungry, and in bondage, the Lord is saying come unto me (Matthew 11:28).

We need Christ in our lives.

Accept Jesus as your personal savior and allow him to become Lord (Master) of your life, because the price has been paid for your sin.

Only believe that: Then you are helped, forgiven, delivered and saved.
