Employers sign up for annual Job Fair

By John Howell Sr.

The 2012 Northwest Mississippi Area Job Fair has 24 employers signed up to interview job applicants, Mississippi Governor’s Job Fair Network director Adam Todd said.

“We’re better right now than last year at this time,” Todd said last week after meeting with planners for the June 28 event scheduled for the Batesville Civic Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The job fair attracts employers seeking workers and applicants seeking jobs, providing a forum for interviews and hiring.

Returning to this year’s job fair in Batesville after an absence are Borg-Warner, Parker-Hannifin and Performance Food Group, Todd said.

“We’ve still got some irons in the fire, too,” he added.

The job fair is coordinated through the WIN Job Center. People seeking a job are urged to attend.
Employers looking for workers are encouraged to participate, Todd said. Employers like the job fair format because they can interview a number of prospective employees during a short time period, he added.
