Marian Pasley Britt

SARDIS — Marian Pasley Britt, 83, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Tallahatchie General Hospital in Charleston.

Services were held Thursday at Ray-Nowell Funeral Home. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.

Britt, born March 14, 1929, in Como, to Austin Pasley Scott and Deana Weathers, was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Red One Rook Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Britt.

Survivors include: one daughter, Nancy Thompson of Nashville; two sons, Bill Thompson of Charleston and Scott Thompson of Ozark; two step-daughters, Peggy Rayburn of Sardis, Kathy Stalling of Madison; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 108 W. Lee St., Sardis, Miss. 38666.

Tommie Allerd Copeland Everson

POPE —  Tommie Allerd Copeland Everson, 87, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at her residence.

Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Jay Anderson and Rev. Dale Tribble will officiate. Burial will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Everson, born Feb. 25, 1925, in Sardis, to Tom Copeland and Alice Segars, was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Bob Everson and Earl Norris.

Survivors include: two daughters, Glenda Norris Gibson of Lake Jackson, Texas and Kim Copeland of Pope; one sister, Pat Copeland Harper of Eufala, Okla.; three brothers, Ramer Copeland of Sardis, Charles Copeland of Pope and Jimmy Copeland of Courtland.

Mary Alice York Gordon

BATESVILLE —  Mary Alice York Gordon, 84, died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Golden Living Nursing Home.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Batesville Church of Christ. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. at the church. Josh James will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Clayton Gordon, and her daughter, Betty Turner.

Survivors include one son James “Jim” Gordon of Pope; one daughter, Kathy Brewer of Batesville; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Batesville Church of Christ, 120 Eureka St., Batesville, Miss. 38606.

Coria Lee Polk

OXFORD — Coria Lee Polk, 68, died Saturday, May 19, 2012, at her daughter’s home in Oxford.

Services will be held Saturday, May 26 at Askew Grove M.B. Church in Longtown. Rev. Hal Eppenger will officiate. Burial will follow in Askew Grove Cemetery. Kenneth I. Roberson Funeral Home of Sardis has charge of arrangements.

A native of Tate County, she was the daughter of the late John Bethel Polk and Bessie Carter Polk. She was a member of Askew Grove M.B. Church in Longtown. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a retired employee of Thermos in Batesville.

She is survived by two daughters, Gwendolyn Smith of Oxford and Sophia Stewart of Horn Lake; two sons, Anthony Todd Polk of Longtown and Darryl Polk of Oxford; four sisters, Georgia Crowder of Memphis, Mary Polk, and Dorothy Polk, both of Longtown and Edna Polk of Clarksdale; two brothers, George Polk and Bethel Polk Jr., both of Memphis; and 11 grandchildren.
