Letter to the editor

Panola inmate seeks to use lessons learned from mistakes to mentor youth

At this moment, God is preparing my heart to make this as a baby step  to say the right words and hoping that the reader that’s reading this will allow what is said to reach the reachables whom it would touch and understand why little steps count.

To the people, I’m currently serving time in prison and wish to make these steps as meaningful as they can be. I have read all that has been going on in my county, the gangs, the shootings, the killings and also the need for help throughout the community.

I’m a Panolian myself and have made wrong decisions also, as some of the guys out there. But I want to say this: Ain’t nobody just that perfect, until made that way or mentored that way.

And to also say this: God is not the only mentor. He made men such as our fathers and others, such as pastors, deacons, and other members of society to be mentors.

I appeal to men in and outside the community of faith. Help me sponsor a manhood study group for our men and children throughout the community. I know myself that I can be a mentor to younger men. And also be the motivator for the adults, because of the roads I have been down and they have not.

I’m asking parents, schools, churches and whatever group that’s available to heed this request so that men like myself and the kids will know what we stand for in our manhood.

I ask for support to help me as I’m willing to help myself by helping others in the future.
I will be getting out soon, hopefully before the summer is over. My address is: Marco Bobo, #R5224; CCRCF Pod 4 B-13, Lancaster Circle, Houston, MS 38851.

I want to hear from y’all because I know the relationships to crimes and wish to help fix the minds of the reachables before it’s too late.

Yours truly,
Marco F. Bobo
