DUI cases dominate city court docket

Five DUI cases were considered during Wednesday’s Batesville Municipal Court session presided over by Judge Jay Westfaul.

Sammy Red, 136 Compton, Coldwater, had a case for DUI-second-refusal and leaving the scene of an accident case continued.

Cleveland Robertson, 53 CR 317, Oxford, entered a guilty plea to DUI-refusal. He was fined $770.

Jeremy Parttridge, 400 Franklin, Sardis, entered a guilty plea to DUI and improper equipment. He was fined $915.

Anthony McKinney, 2942 Seven Rd., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to DUI-second, driving while license suspended and no proof of insurance. He was fined $2,509 and sentenced to 10 days in jail with credit for the seven days he spent in jail awaiting trial.

Brandon Brewer, 1263 Shuford Rd., Courtland, entered a not guilty plea to DUI, reckless driving and driving while license suspended.

He had old fines of $503 that have been due since July 2011. The judge told him to have the fines paid in full by 5 p.m. on Friday or serve time in jail.

George Mister Jr., 101 Flowers, Pope, was found guilty of domestic violence-simple assault. He was fined $395.

Jakessa Cole, 200 Hwy. 51 South, Batesville, entered a guilty plea to domestic violence-simple assault. She was fined $395.

Timothy Mangrum, was found not guilty of domestic violence-simple assault and simple assault after the affiants Zeandra Butler and Latasha Lewis failed to appear to prosecute. He was fine $594 for no proof of insurance.

Sherman Burgess, 2766 Seven Rd., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to public drunk. He was fined $204.

Octavious Benson failed to appear to answer shoplifting charges and contempt of court-old fines of $1,582 that have been due since January 2010.

A warrant was issued.

Courtney Brooks, 808 E Chesnut, Charleston, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting. She was fined $1,124.

Feilica Hill, 808 E Chesnut, Charleston, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting. She was fined $1,124.

Barbara Tunson, 3796-A Eureka, Batesville, had a contempt of court-old fines of $1,198 case continued.
Cases set for trial

Nicholas Warren, 201 Vick St., Batesville, was represented by attorney Parker Still. Warren completed MASEP classes and had his DUI remanded to the files for six months.

Angela Chapman, 126 Dell, Batesville, entered a guilty plea to contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was represented by attorney Helen Kelly.

Melissa S. Turner, 1577 River Rd., Phillip, was fined $194 for no proof of insurace.

Anna K. Smith, 214 Elm Rd., Batesville, was fined $155 for careless driving.

Richard K. Holden Jr., 317 Willa St., Batesville, was fined $594 for no proof of insurance.

Antonio J. Henderson, 818 Bethlehem Rd., Batesville, was fined $170 for running a stop sign.
