Davison plays to high standards

By Myra Bean

North Panola senior point guard Angelica Davison takes words of wisdom from her father, Lamar, to every game she plays.

“He always told me to play hard, play aggressive but not to the point that I play dirty,” she said.

Davison saw her father playing basketball when she was in junior high and that sparked a lifelong love for the sports. Since those early years, he has been teaching her to play the game. She said that he is also her biggest supporter.

This year on the team, Davison is averaging 5.9 points per game and shooting 57 percent from the free throw line. She has 13 assists, 29 rebounds and 10 steals. Last year she averaged 6.1 points per game and shot 70 percent from the free throw line.

She is an honor student at North Panola in the BETA Club and Mu Alpha Theta. She is also on the Student Council and a member of the Interact Club. She is a former drum major and member of the band. This spring she will participate on the track team.

This year she was a senior maid on the homecoming court, in what she calls one of her “girly moments.”

“At North Panola, I try to do my best,” Davison said. “I try to set an example for the underclassmen. As a senior, I know I have high standards so I try my best to meet those standards.”

After high school, Davison plans to attend Ole Miss to major in nursing and hopes to play basketball.
Her mother name is Angela Davison.
