BATESVILLE- Jefferson “Larry” Lawrence Pollock, 57, died Thursday, November 10, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Memorial services were held Friday at Enon Baptist Church. Rev. Keith Bolen officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Pollock, born June 2, 1954, to Jefferson Burl and Ouida Mae Ware Pollock of Batesville worked as a delivery man.
Survivors along with his parents include: four sisters, Beverly Buchannnan of Tecumseh, Mich., Conchetta Castle of Batesville, Deborah Stokes of Milan, Mich., Theresa Pollock of Nashville, Tenn. and one brother, Bruce Pollock of Whitehills, Ariz.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, Lebonheur Children’s Medical Center or the charity of the donor’s choice.
MEMPHIS- Albert Dwight Shepherd, 83, died Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis.
Memorial services were held Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Charleston. Rev. Andy Halsey officiated. Burial was in Winona Garden of Memory in Winona. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Shepherd, born May 23, 1928, in Neshoba County, to Harper C. and Bonnie Thomas Shepherd, retired after 41 years with Entergy (Mississippi Power and Light) as an office manager in Charleston. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Charleston and served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army.
Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Truitt Shepherd of Charleston; two daughters, Kay Shepherd Allison of Benton, Beth Shepherd Bond of Collierville, Tenn.; three sisters, Neda Shepherd Byars and Brenda Shepherd Sims of Philadelphia, Sybil Shepherd McNair of Brookhaven; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Family Life Center, P.O. Box 413, Charleston, Miss. 38921 or the charity of the donors choice.
CROWDER – John A. Stokes, 81, died Sunday, November 6, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Services were Sunday at Popular Springs M.B. Church in Enid. Rev. Coya Blackburn officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home had charge.
Stokes, born March 6, 1931, to Tommy Goodwin, was a retired construction worker and a member of Popular Springs M.B. Church in Enid.
Survivors include; two daughters, Venera of Pope and Hattie M. Redic of Memphis and one son, Harrison Davis of Crowder.
TILLATOBA- Irene Walton Walker, 93, died Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Providence Assisted Living in Grenada.
Services will be held today at 10 a.m. at Garner-Harper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clay Baker officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Tillatoba. Garner-Harper Funeral Home has charge.
Walker, born Oct. 10, 1918, to E.H. Walton Sr. and Effie Cook Walton in Oakland, served as an alderwoman of the town of Tillotaba and was a former employee of Graeber Brothers in Oakland. She was a member of Tillatoba Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.B. Walker.
Survivors include: three children, Charlene Walker Adams of Tillatoba, Benny Walker of Grenada and Danny Walker of Batesville; one brother, Billy Ray Walton of Russell Springs, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Buddy Adams, David Adams, Jeff Adams, Rick Walker and James Walker, Amanda Walker, Zachary Walker and Nicholas Walker; eight great-grandchildren.
