Mississippi’s deadline to register to vote in the November 8 general election is Saturday at noon.
“High noon,” according to Rick Swindle’s business sign in Batesville.
Voter registration cuts off 30 days before Election Day, a deadline that falls on Sunday, so state law mandates the Saturday registration.
New voters register in the circuit clerk’s office, located in the county courthouses in Batesville and Sardis.
The circuit clerk’s office will be open 8 a.m. until noon Saturday.
The ballot on November 8 will be wide ranging: a statewide race for governor and, locally, races for sheriff and other county offices, and races for House District 10 and Senate District 10.
The ballot will also include ballot initiatives for personhood, voter identification, and eminent domain.
“Don’t let someone else decide these important initiatives for you — register to vote in the upcoming election,” said Delbert Hosemann, Mississippi’s secretary of state.
The circuit clerk’s office can be contacted at 563-6210 and 487-2073.
