The Lady Geen Waves made it five district championships in a row Tuesday night with a 7-2 win over Marshall on “Senior Night” at Green Wave Field. Seniors Hannah Waldrip, Laci DuBravec and Bradi Beard were honored before the game.

North Delta (15-9) will now advance to the North AA State Tournament  at Carroll Academy where they will take on District 3 runner-up Prairie View (La.) Saturday morning at 10 in a double elimination tournament.

North Delta made quick work of the Patriots by scoring five runs in the bottom of the first while adding two more in the third.

After Marshall was retired in order in the top of the inning, Beard got the Wave offense started with a leadoff single. Following Maribeth Johns’ popup for the first out, Hastings Neal walked before DuBravec slapped a single into right that scored Beard for a 1-0 lead

Erin Snider was hit by a pitch to load the bases  for Anna Lloyd who smacked a single that went through the right fielder’s legs all the way to the fence that cleared the bases, allowing Lloyd to score.

That would be all the Lady Green Wave would need as pitcher Peyton Rico shut down Marshall to the tune of two runs on five hits over seven innings to pick up the victory. Rico’s only mistake came in the top of the sixth when Chelsey Gullium lined a two-run home run to left. Rico fanned seven batters and did not allow a walk.

North Delta tacked on a pair of runs in the bottom of the third to increase its lead to 7-0. DuBravec reached on a one-out single before advancing to second on an error. Snider followed with a triple into right-center to drive in pinch-runner Hannah Heafner. Snider also scored on the play as the relay throw to third sailed into the North Delta dugout.

Dubravec and Lloyd led the Green Wave offense with two singles each while Julianna Morrow added an infield single.
