With the 2010 National Football Championship under its belt, South Panola set itself apart from all other schools in Mississippi.

My friend and colleague Debbie Parker has a great idea. Display that title on the Batesville water towers so all will know when they enter the city.

It is not something that happens to every team every year. In fact this is the first team in Mississippi to claim a national football championship.

All eyes are on Batesville. As such, Batesville has to step up its game and continue to keep the Tigers as a selling point for this beautiful city.

What better way than to oroclaim it on the three water towers that stand higher than anything in this city. As people motor into town from all different directions, they will see the pride we have in this team and the notoriety brought by its successes.

The South Panola Tiger team has made and broken so many records in high school football for this state.

Even though the signs on the interstate are beautiful being shared with the other teams, this is one thing in which the Tigers stand alone and deserve to be recognized for its own merits.

Hoover High School has its name on the water towers in its town. South Panola will travel there Saturday, August 27. Hoover does not have a claim to a national championship but is recognized nationally.

South Panola can claim both.

It would be a crying shame for Hoover to come to South Panola in 2013 and miss Batesville because the South Panola Tiger name is not sprawled across the city like the Hoover name is in its home town.

Parker is spearheading this campaign to sprawl the Tiger name across this city so the powers that be need to be ready with an answer when she comes knocking at your door.
