ND teams ousted by Hillcrest

It was  “one and done” for  the North Delta girls and boys basketball squads as both teams were eliminated in first-round action of the North AA state playoffs Tuesday night at Kirk Academy.

In the girls contest, Hillcrest out-scored the Lady Green Wave 14-6 in the fourth quarter to take a 37-32 victory. North Delta, who led 20-17 at halftime and 26-22 at the end of the third period, was led in scoring by Bradi Beard with 15 points and four steals.

Madison Greenlee followed with seven points and 10 rebounds while Charla Shea Darby added six points. Erin Snider and Katelyn Still chipped in with two points each. North Delta(18-12) shot 14-of-50 (28 percent) from the floor on the night.

Hillcrest (16-10) was led in scoring by Meisha Ross with 13 points.

In the boys tilt, the Green Wave gave No. 1 ranked Hillcrest (23-3) everything they wanted and more but in the end it was the Cougars who advanced into the second round with a 39-30 victory.

Bryan Nickle paced North Delta  (15-9) with nine points followed by Jim Tom Copeland with eight points.

Corbin Baker and Derrick Shawn added five while Bailey Guckert finished with three.
