Five were injured in a two-car collision Wednesday with two of the injured being airlifted to the Med in Memphis, two transported to Tri-Lakes in Batesville and one taken to Baptist in Oxford according to investigating deputy Danny Beavers.
The accident occurred on Pope-Crowder Road at Willow Springs Assembly of God Church, according to Beavers, whose accident report had yet to be completed.
Beavers said Thursday that two air-ambulance services were used as well as the local ground service.
The Panola County deputy was also reluctant to release names until his report was completed.
The accident occurred at the time a visitation service was beginning at the nearby church which added to congestion of the already busy road, according to Beavers.
Traffic was being re-routed for at least two hours after the accident occurred.
