The driver had left the car for approximately two hours to car pool with another person to go shopping, according to the report from patrolman Will Parrish.

No arrests have been made, said BPD Detective Paul Shivers.

The Malibu was doused with gasoline but had not been set on fire, he said.

In other weekend police activity, Shivers said the police department is investigating the burglary of a residence on Potts Street.

Burglars took two flat-screen TVs, a DVD player, and a wristwatch, according to a police report from BPD Lt. Ruby Myers.

The homeowners left Friday afternoon to attend a football game and returned home that night and discovered the break-in, according to the report.

In the floor of the home, the homeowners found another TV, a Nintendo Wii, and a laptop computer. The burglars also left behind their crow bar.
