Charles Edward Flowers Sr.

COURTLAND–Charles Edward Flowers Sr., 68, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at his residence.

Services were Monday at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel. Eugene Brown officiated. Burial was in West Camp Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Flowers, born Feb. 20, 1942, in Batesville, to the late Martin Flowers and Marie Brooks Flowers, was a retired maintenance worker for Batesville Junior High School.

He was a member of West Camp M.B. Church where he was a member of West Camp Male Chorus.

Survivors include: two daughters, Charlene Scruggs of Batesville and Latoshia Riley of Courtland; three sons, Charles E. Flowers Jr. of Pope, George Flowers of Courtland and Rapheal Flowers of Hanford, Calif.; three sisters, Mary Walls and Rose Kincaid, both of Courtland and Daisy Blackburn of North Pole, Alaska; three brothers, Herman Flowers of Batesville, Joe Willie Flowers of Courtland and Matt Flowers of Memphis; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Margaret Maureen Mortimer Foster

OXFORD–Margaret Maureen Mortimer Foster, 84, formerly of Pope,died Sunday, November 14, 2010, in Oxford.

Services were Friday, at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Cleveland, , with Father Sean Atkinson officiating.

Foster,  born September 21, 1926, in Ifield West Sussex, England to Augustus Ely Mortimer and Catherine Hourihan Mortimer, was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Batesville. She met  George Robert “Bob” Foster Sr., when he was stationed in London, England serving in the United States Army.  They were married February 17, 1945 in London England.  She came to the United States as a war bride in 1946 and became a naturalized citizen in 1951.   She retired as a nurse in 1986.    

Survivors include: one daughter, Cathy Bishop of Cleveland; one son, Robin Foster of Nashville; grandchildren, Brian Bishop of Cleveland, Sara Webne and Jacob Webne of Nashville; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Gracie Day and Caden Bishop of Cleveland.

The family requests memorials be made to Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. 

Gary Wayne Hardy

BATESVILLE–Gary Wayne Hardy, 60, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at his residence.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home with visitation held today from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Geraldine William

 SENATOBIA–Geraldine William, 69, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at her residence.

Services were Tuesday at Paradise M.B. Church. Burial was in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.

William was a member of Paradise M.B. Church.

Survivors include: four daughters, Ruby Williams and Donna Branch, both of Senatobia, Jeanette Short of Killeen, Texas and Barbara Williams of Robersonville; five sons, Gary Williams of Senatobia, Howard Williams of Sarah, Bobby Williams of Como, Steve Williams of Sardis and Charlie Williams of Memphis; two sisters, Mary A. Moss and Hazeltine Jackson, both of Memphis; one brother, J.H. Heffner of Sardis; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
