The North Delta Green Wave stay alive with a 34-0 shutout of Manchester Academy Friday night.
The Green Wave will travel to Simpson Academy in Mendenhall for the second round of playoffs next Friday night. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
Tres Brasell scored on a two-yard run in the first quarter. Kyle DeVazier’s PAT was good for the 7-0 lead.
John Cody Dalrymple intercepted a pass and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown. DeVazier’s PAT was good with 7:05 left in the first quarter for the 14-0 lead.
Jim Tom Copeland caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Bryan Nickle. DeVazier’s kick was good with 3:08 to go in the first quarter to give the Green Wave a 21-0 lead. That score stood at halftime.
In the third quarter, Brasell scored on an eight-yard run. DeVazier’s kick was good with 1:52 left in the quarter. Nickle scored the final touchdown in the fourth quarter on a one-yard run with 5:08 left in the game. The score stood 34-0 after the kick failed.
South Panola iced its regular season with a 50-7 win over DeSoto Central Thursday night.
The Tigers led 14-0 in the first quarter after a three-yard run by Qyen Griffin and a 34-yard run by Kendrick Market with 6:06 on the clock. Clayton Sibley’s kicks were good for the extra points.
South Panola scored three touchdowns and kicked a field goal in the second quarter to lead 38-7 going into halftime.
Jonathan Bownes scored on a 16-yard run with 11:39 left in the half. Sibley’s kick was good. Sibley kicked a 20-yard field goal with 7:35 left in the half.
Marcus Henry scored on a 37-yard run with 4:59 left in the half. Market scored the final touchdown before the half on a 44-yard run with 11.7 seconds on the clock. Sibley kicked all three extra points.
DeSoto Central sneaked a 40-yard touchdown pass in with 34 seconds left in the half to cut the Tiger lead to 31-7 with the extra point.
South Panola scored the final two touchdowns in the third quarter on a 54-yard pass from Self to Nick Brassell with 9:14 on the clock. Market picked up a fumbled punt and returned it 28 yard for the touchdown with 4:49 left in the third quarter.
The Tigers will host Grenada in the first round of the playoffs next Friday night at 7 p.m. Tickets will be on sale Thursday and Friday at the High School from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets are $7 each and no reserved seating is sold during the playoffs.
