On Sunday, Nov. 3, as the radiant sunshine broke through the cloudy skies, the members and friends of Batesville Presbyterian Church raised their voices in thanksgiving to God for the beautiful new pavilion which has been constructed behind the church.
Following the prayer of blessing for the nearly 3,300 square foot structure, Rev. Jerry Long, the pastor of Batesville Presbyterian, invited all those in attendance to join in the celebration of the new facility by enjoying a delicious fried fish meal, prepared by members of the church.
Along with the fish dinner, the young children were treated to a special horse and buggy ride around the pavilion before and after lunch, courtesy of Don Allison from First Presbyterian Church of Charleston.
During the luncheon, Rev. Long highlighted a variety of different ways the pavilion can be used to enhance the mission and ministry programs of the church, including as a venue for outdoor worship services, weddings, and other special events throughout the year as well as a site for candlelight prayer services, Bible studies, fellowship luncheons, and Vacation Bible School.
“The possibilities are endless,” noted Rev. Long. “All we must do is listen intently for the ways in which our wondrous Lord is calling us to use this beautiful resource for His glory, and then offer that ministry to others in the no-holes-barred love of Christ.”
