Eula Kuykendall

CROWDER– Eula Kuykendall, 98, died Saturday, September 11, 2010.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Antioch M.B. Church in Courtland. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Rev. Reginald Reed will officiate. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Visititation will be held today from 10 a.m. To 6 p.m. Friday at Cooley’s Mortuary and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at Antioch M.B. Church.

Kuykendall, born July 13, 1912, in Pope, to the late Truman Dunn and Genola Lloyd Dunn, was a musician for Woodland M.B. Church and Unity M.B. Church. He was a member of Antioch M.B. Church where he was president of the choir and usher board and a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include: two daughters, Velma James of Batesville and Carnelia Kuykendall of Memphis; two sons, Sceola Kuykendall of Detroit, Mich. and Waverly Kuykendall of Memphis, Tenn.; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Bobby Brassell

COMO–  Bobby Brassell, 68, died Thursday, September 9, 2010, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

Services will be held  Saturday at 1 p.m. Mt. Level M.B. Church in Como. Burial will be in Mt. Level Cemetery in Como. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.

Survivors include: his wife, Ruby Bobo; three daughters, Cathey Street of Chicago, Ill., Rosetta Brassell of North Carolina and Vemail Brassell of Como; two sons, Oshea Horn Brassell of Como and Bobby Brassell of Memphis; three sisters, Lovie Brown of Chicago, Daser Nelson of Ontario, Calif. and Jeanette Russell of Como and one brother, L.C. Brassell of Como; two sisters, Monnette Chapman of Apple Valley, Calif. and Rosie Roberson of Pasadena, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Alton Leeroy Oaks

CRENSHAW– Alton Leeroy Oaks, 70, died Monday, September 13, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.

Services were Thursday at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial was in Longtown Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge.

Survivors include: his wife, Joyce Oaks of Crenshaw; one daughter, Barbara Abney of Crenshaw; two sons, James and Johnny Oaks, both of Kansas City, Kan.; sisters, Pat Glosson of Coldwater, Mary Brookshire of Memphis, Carolyn Kirby of Coldwater and Laura Teal of Memphis; one brother, Woodrow Oaks of Arkabutla; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
