‘Mania’ coming to a yard near you

By Billy Davis

More than a dozen homes in and around Batesville are participating in The Panolian’s “Yard Sale Mania,” with more expected to jump in this week.

The first-ever event is scheduled for Saturday May 1, often regarded as the biggest yard sale day of the year.

Kitchen appliances, living room furniture, an oak bed, tools, toys, lines, glassware, and clothes are among items being advertised in The Panolian’s classified section beginning today.

The Friday issue of The Panolian will also include a helpful Shopper’s Guide that can be clipped and carried by yard sale shoppers.

Residents in Batesville and Sardis, and in the Pope, Central Academy, Crowder and Eureka communities are participating in the classified guide.

The Panola County Cancer Relief Organization promises a “giant yard sale” Saturday morning at the Memorial Park in Batesville. The organization raises money to aid local cancer patients.

Most yard sales are beginning at 7 a.m., though some are kicking off early at 6 o’clock or 6:30.

There is still time to participate in the Friday issue, including in the Shopper’s Guide. The deadline to advertise is Wednesday at noon. The cost is $10.98 for a four-line ad.
