Bobby Nell Miles Hankins

WARRENVILLE HEIGHTS, Ohio— Bobby Nell Miles, Hankins, 69, formerly of Pope, died Sunday, February 21, 2010m at Cleveland Clinic Hospital.

Services were held Saturday at Mt. Gillion M.B. Church in Sardis. Rev. Walter Newson officiated. Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Hankins, born July 6, 1940, in Pope, to the late Grady Miles and Evelylen Clark Miles, was a press operator for G & S Metals and a member of Antioch M.B. Church.

Survivors include: three daughters, Margaret Rudd and Gloria Carr, both of Courtland and Bobbie Dell Hankins of Warrenville Heights, Ohio; two sons, Terry Miles of Batesville and Bennie L. Hankins Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

George Boyles

LAKE– George Boyles, 49, died Friday, February 26, 2010, at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon.  He was the father of Zylphia “Zee” Perkins of Batesville.

Services were Monday at of Wolf Funeral Services. Burial was in High Hill Methodist Cemetery in Lake. Officiating was Rev. Owen Riddick.  Wolf Funeral Services had charge.

Boyles, born to the late Sam and Elsie Boyes, was a lifelong resident of the Norris Community in Scott County and was a member of High Hill United Methodist Church.  He was a 1979 graduate of Forest High School and he was a member of the Forest High School Marching Band.

Arnold Robertson “Smitty” Smythe

NEW ORLEANS– Arnold Robertson Smythe, Jr., 73, formery  died Tuesday, February 23, 2010.

In honor of his wishes, there will be no service. Visitation only to take place at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.

Mr. Smythe resided in the New Orleans area for the last 50 years. He earned undergraduate and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Tulane, graduating with the highest honors as a member of Tau Beta Pi honor society and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Mr. Smythe served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962, most memorably spending months at McMurdo Station, Antarctica.

For most of his career, he was a self-employed structural engineer. Devoted to his family, an accomplished pilot, an avid reader, jogger and sports fan, Mr. Smythe was a highly respected expert and mentor in the field of engineering. He also leaves behind four nephews, Mike, Brett, and Ken Floyd, and Eddie Grant, and two nieces, Lauren Smythe Bloodworth and Parker Smythe Kline.

Known to his friends as “Smitty,” he is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dixie Jo Grant Smythe: daughters Sara Ansley Smythe and Karen Grant Smythe Breen; her husband Steven and grandson Henry Patrick Breen. He is also survived by sister Willa Smythe Floyd of Sardis, MS and brother Stanford Jackson and his wife Kaye Smythe, of Batesville, and preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Robertson Smythe and Sara Lois Cox Smythe, of Batesville.
