Clayton Darrell Perkins, 79, of Southaven,  passed away Friday July 28, 2023 at his home. Mr. Perkins was the husband of Mrs. Emelie Perkins.

Funeral services were held  Monday, July 31, 2023 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment at  Cold Springs Cemetery.

Darrell was born on Jan. 13, 1944, to the late Birtee and Mary Louise Perkins in Crowder. He worked for Holiday Woodcraft as a supervisor for many years and after retiring from there, he was a truck driver. Some of Darrel’s favorite pastimes include going to the dog races and playing cards.

He loved listening to blues music and watching the history channel. Darrel also enjoyed watching and keeping up with all Ole Miss sports teams and the St. Louis Cardinals.

The family he leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Emlie Perkins of Southaven; two sons, John D. Perkins of Southaven, and Steven D. Perkins (Christy) of Hernando; two brothers, Paul Perkins (Shirley) of Saltillo,   and Frank Perkins of Sardis; four grandchildren, Caroline Perkins, Reed Perkins, Eli Perkins, and Erica Connelly (Damien); two great grandchildren, Isaac and Baylee Connelly.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son, Byron Keith Perkins; two sisters, Mary Lee Wilson and Betty Ruth Perkins; and three brothers, Johnny Perkins, David Perkins, and Larry Perkins.
