The Batesville Junior High 7th and 8th grade boys and girls basketball teams split a pair of four exciting basketball games with Senatobia Monday night at the Batesville Junior High Gym.

In the first game of the night, the Batesville seventh grade girls came away with a 17-9 win while Senatobia took the boys contest by a score of 20-15. Both the eighth grade contests were nailbiters as the Senatobia girls edged the Lady Tigers 24-22 in overtime while the Batesville boys slipped past the Warriors 24-23 on a pair of freethrows by Tydrekus Bradford with 16 seconds remaining in the game.

Shanterrica Hunt scored eight points to lead the seventh grade Lady Tigers to the victory. Damonica Davis followed with four points while Veuncle Braxton added three and Tyraveen Collins chipped in with two points.

Chris Rudd and Jeremy Pollard recorded three points each to lead the seventh grades boys in defeat. Desmond Lester, Kamdon Edwards and Ryan Lee followed with two points while Jordan Matthews, Brycen Robinson and Dundrygus Henderson registered one point each. The Tigers hurt themselves by hitting only 3-of-13 from the free throw line.

In the eighth grade girls contest, Senatobia took a 24-20 lead in the overtime period before NaPoorshue Strong’s jumper cut the score to 24-22 with 29 seconds remaining. After the Warriors missed a pair of free throws with ten seconds left, the Lady Tigers had a chance to tie the game, but Strong’s last second shot was off the mark.

Madison Louwien led the Tigers with eight points while Brittany Baker followed with five. Margaret Louwien added four points followed by Raven Brown and Strong with two points each. Eriyunnah Montgomery closed out the scoring with one point.

In the final game of the night, Senatobia missed a pair of underneath the goal shots in the final ten seconds of the game as Batesville came away with the victory. Jae Bibbs and Bradford led the Tigers with five points each. Tim Bedell followed with four points while Quandez Lee followed with three. Javon Norris, Matt Davis and Da’ Shawn Lindsay each scored two points while Jaylin Webster closed scoring with one point.

Batesville will be back in action Nov. 30 at home against Grenada starting at 4:30.
