Samuel Allen Allred

BATESVILLE– Samuel Allen Allred, age 65, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 at his home in Batesville.  Born March 18, 1944 in Memphis, he was a son of Clyde Avery and Mary Evelyn Peeples Allred. Mr. Allred served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was retired and had previously been a self-employed contractor and a merchant.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Water Valley.Services were Wednesday, June 10, in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Bro. Derrick Simmons and Pastor Bob Hill officiated.  Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.

Allred is survived by his wife. Jo Ann Smith Allred of Batesville, ; two daughters, Michelle Lea (George) Reyes of Whittier, CA,  and Samantha Lee Allred of Batesville,; one son, Benjamin Allred of Memphis, TN; one sister, Janice (Odie) Shuffield; one brother, Bobby Clyde (Pinky) Allred of Nesbit,; and three grandchildren, George Reyes, Natalie Reyes, and Jake Reyes.

Ronnie Wray Bolton

POPE– Ronnie Wray Bolton, age 57, passed away Saturday evening, June 13, 2009, at his home in Pope after a long battle with cancer.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Rayford Ables presiding. The burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, June 16, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.

Mr. Bolton was born on January 22, 1952 in Batesville to William Royce and Imogene Wray Bolton.

He was a cowboy and a member of Wrays Chapel Church of God.

Survivors include: his wife, Sherry Ann McMinn Bolton of Pope; his daughter, Buffy Ann Bolton of Pope; two sons, William Ronnie Bolton and Christopher Bryan Bolton, both of Pope; his mother, Imogene Bolton Williford of Pope; six grandchildren, Maegan Bolton, Dakota Bolton, Rivers Bolton Brown, Darian Bolton McGehee, Cecil Cate Bolton and Kelsey B. White.

Eugene Patrick Brister

BEEBE, Ark– Eugene Patrick Brister, of Beebe, Arkansas, was born March 17, 1938, in Oxford, Mississippi to Wesley and Ethel Berry Brister and died Saturday, June 6, 2009.  

Services were Tuesday, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Weir Cemetery.  Mr. Brister was a Church of God minister for many years and served in the National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jim and Donald Brister and a sister, Doris Youngblood. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Brister; two daughters, Karyn Rigney and husband Danny, and Becky Brister of Blytheville, Ark.; a stepdaughter, Sherry Cronk and husband Mark, and Terri Day and husband David of McRae, Ark.; a stepson, Doug Shannon, Jr. and wife Becky of Mt. View, Mo.; eight grandsons; one granddaughter; three sisters, Charlotte Slay and husband Bill of Clinton, Katie Garcia and husband Art of Yuma, Ariz., Ann Williams and husband Hardin of Batesville; and a brother Ray Brister and wife Carol of Batesville.

Martha Faye Barr Dean

BATESVILLE– Martha Faye Barr Dean, 62, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at West Camp M.B. Church. Dr. Zannie Leland Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held today 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at West Camp M.B. Church. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Dean, born Sept. 18, 1946, to the late John Barr and Mavis Reed, was a member of West Camp M.B. Church. She was a maintenance worker for John Kyle State Park and a housekeeper for Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Survivors include: one son, Kendrick Roydell Barr of Batesville; one daughter, Sonia Robinson of Batesville; two step-daughters, Chibeca Dean Keys of Como and Aberdin Dean Stamps of Valdosta, Ga.; three brothers, Elbert Barr of Batesville, Willie Reed and Lamar Reed, both of Chicago; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

 

Whitten Graves

 

Robert Whitten Graves age 17, died Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Batesville Presbyterian Church in Batesville, MS with Rev. Karen O’Brien officiating. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery, Batesville, MS.

Whitten was born on December 9, 1991 in Memphis, TN to Robert “Bob” Whitten and Kalen Michelle Williamson Graves. Whitten was a student at Magnolia Heights School in Senatobia, MS. He was a big Ole Miss Fan and planned to attend Ole Miss. He enjoyed attending concerts because of his love for music. Because he was an avid sports fan he wanted to be a sports broadcaster. Whitten enjoyed playing video games and spending time on computers.

Annalee Elizabeth Stevens

Graveside services for infant Annalee Elizabeth Stevens, who was stillborn at Grenada Lake Medical Center in Grenada on Thursday, June 11, 2009, were held on Friday at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona.

She was the daughter of Kelsie Bevis of Winona and James Stevens of Batesville.

Survivors along with her parents are her grandparents, Eugene and Darlene Bevis of Winona and Pat Finnie of Batesville.

Oliver Funeral Home of Winona had charge of arrangements.
