Paloma Codero
Paloma Cordero was stillborn at Northwest Mississippi Medical Center in Clarksdale on Sunday, March 29, 2009.
Her parents are Irene Graciano and Edmundo Cordero, both of Marks.
Graveside services were held Tuesday at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville. Rev. Tino Trevino officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Survivors along with her parents include: her grandparents, Gregoria Zarazua and Raymundo Graciano of Rio Bravo Tamualipas, Mexico, Lucia Calvillo Ortega and Simon Cordero Runz of Rio Bravo Tamaulipas, Mexico.
ORANGE PARK, Fla.– Bess Towles Caillouet, 94, formerly of Batesville, died December 11, 2008, at the Life Care Center at Wells Crossing in Orange Park, Fla. She was also under the care of Hospice.
Graveside committal services were Friday, March 20, 2009, at Pensacola Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rev. Charles Avery.
Caillouet was born September 6, 1914, in Batesville, to the late Lester and JimAnnie Moore Towles. She was raised on a family farm, graduated from Batesville High School, met her husband, Allen Joseph Caillouet, and had a son, Alvin Allen “Speedy” Caillouet. During the Great Depression and World War II, Bess and her family lived and worked in several states until they settled in Pensacola in 1949. There she and her husband owned and operated Cal’s Tractor and Mower Sales and Service on Lillian Highway from 1956-1973. She was a long-time member and officer of the Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church as well as the Myrtle Grove Woman’s Club, and was an avid Bridge player and gardener.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen J. Caillouet; and brothers, Hillary, Lester Wood, Thomas and Spencer Towles of Batesville
Survivors include: her son, A. Allen “Speedy” Caillouet and his wife Patricia of Orange Park, Florida; sisters-in-law, Elaine Bright of Louisville, Kentucky, Flawn Caillouet of Stuttgart, Arkansas and Jean Towles of Batesville.
Patricia Collins Sandefer
MEMPHIS– Patricia Collins Sandefer, 64, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at her residence. She was the sister of Brenda Dixon of Pope and Randall Collins Jr. of Batesville.
Services will be held Monday, April 6 at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Wells Funeral Home has charge. Visitation will be noon to service time at the funeral home.
Sandefer, born August 15, 1944, to Russell Collins Jr. and Martha Louise Deaton Collins of Pope, was a member of the Church of Christ
Survivors along with her parents and siblings include: two sons, Jeffery Allen Mitchell of Memphis and Michael Shawn Barbee of Denver, Colo. and 11 grandchildren.
COURTLAND– George Strong, 54, died Monday, March 30, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be held Saturday at noon at Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Courtland. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Warren Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday 11 a.m. – noon at Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Strong, born Dec. 27, 1954, in Courtland, to Eugene Strong and Lela Strong, was a retired factory worker. She was a member of of Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.
Survivors along with his parents include: his wife, Lourella Strong of Courtland; one daughter, Shunita Strong; two sons, George Anthony Strong and Marcus Strong, all of Courtland; five sisters, Jearldine Moering, Casey M. Strong, Patricia Strong and Lisa Barksdale, all of Courtland and Sally Jean Scott of San Francisco, Calif.; five brothers, Willie Strong, Micheal Strong, Arthur Strong, all of Courtland, Eugene Strong of Batesville and James W. Strong of St. Louis.
SARDIS– Georgia Mae Wilson, 81, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at her residence.
Services were Sunday at the North Panola High School Auditorium. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home had charge.
Wilson, born Oct. 29, 1927, to the late Louise White was a retired Health Coordinator for Head Start School. She was a member of Pleasant Green M.B. Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Tommie Jennings of Memphis and Michael Wilson of Sardis and one daughter, Martha Black of Hernando.
