Might as well say it. I am outraged at the lack of Division 1 recruiting our South Panola football players received this year. Again, I know it has to do with height.
South Panola loses one game in six years and all of a sudden the players are no longer marketable to universities? Obviously, universities are not really looking for talented, good players.
Not in Mississippi anyway.
Granted, Meridian players are good. They won the state championship. Both South Panola and Meridian ended the year with identical 14-1 records. South Panola has a 59-1 three-year record. Meridian has a 36-8 three year record.
David Conner and Marvin Burdette did a great job for South Panola in the three years they helped anchor that team. David can play just about any position you place him on that team. He is an asset and will be one for UAB in whatever capacity they want him. He and Marvin are both SEC caliber players and the SEC recruiters failed these players in not giving them a well-deserved look. You think height is everything.
I see the players they have picked over South Panola players in the past and your teams are struggling. You might have to amend that formula you use to determine “playability” – borrowing phraseology from Budweiser here.
Oh, well, these words may just be floating out in the air and never land anywhere useful, but South Panola football players, who do their academic work well, deserve a closer look from state universities than they are getting. Winning a bowl game is great, but if you want to consistently go to bowl games every year, you may need to get some great players.
How could Ole Miss be that close and not recruit one single player from South Panola?
On top of that, Ole Miss only signed seven Mississippi players.
Of the 27 that signed with Mississippi State 19 were Mississippi players.
