Rosie Lee Ford

POPE- Rosie Lee Ford, 77, died Saturday, November 1, 2008, at her residence.

Services are Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Spring Hill M.B. Church in Pope. Pastor Willie J. Frost will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is today 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary and 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m on Wednesday at Spring Hill M.B. Church. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Ford, born Oct. 5, 1931, in Courtland, to the late Sam Rudd and the late Spora Thornton, was a homemaker and a member of Spring Hill M.B. Church. She was an usher and on the Mother Board.

Survivors include: three daughters, Freddie Hentz of Pope, Triscilla Simmons of Charleston and Priscilla Henderson of Hazelton, Pa.; four sons, Rickey Ford of Oakland, John Henry Ford of Pope, Eddie Joe Ford of Courtland and Jimmie Lee Ford of Memphis; two sisters, Lue Emma Ford of Pope and Mary Bobo of Courtland; one brother, Jimmie Rudd of Pope; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.


Mary Lois Brown McLarty

BATESVILLE- Mary Lois Brown McLarty, 71, a retired shipping and receiving clerk for Emerson Electric, died Monday, October 27, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford. 

Services were Wednesday at Black Jack Presbyterian Church in Panola County with Reverend Gary Crowell officiating.  Burial was in Black Jack Cemetery.  Waller Funeral Home had charge.

McLarty was the widow of Mr. Wayne C. McLarty and attended Black Jack Presbyterian Church in Batesville. She was born in Jonesboro, Ark., and was a graduate of Valley View High School, Class of 1955.

 Survivors include: four daughters, Janet Waldrep and her husband, Dennis, of Seneca, S.C., Lisa Ragon and her husband Brad, Christy Dowdle and her husband, Archie, and Linda Tutor, all of Batesville;  four sisters, Betty Medlock of Burnett, Texas, Louise Freeman of Bono, Ark., JoAnn Gassaway of Paragould, Ark., and Sharon Williams of Van Buren, Ark.; one brother, Elmer Brown of Jonesboro, Ark.; nine grandchildren, Diana Plumley and Matt Waldrep both of SC, B.J. Tutor, Jimmy Elliott, Cody Wayne Tutor, Ben Elliott, Candice Dowdle, Chris Dowdle, and Bethany Dowdle all of Batesville, MS and two great-grandchildren, Dakota Grace Tutor and Benjamin Brooks Elliott of Batesville, MS.  Mrs. McLarty was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Brown.
