Pope Mayor and Board of Aldermen discussed an ongoing issue with the sewer line at its Monday, Nov. 4, regular monthly meeting.

Alderman Dan Jenkins replaced the sewer pump for one of the restaurants which shares the sewer line with a residence. It keeps getting clogged.

Mayor Jamie Howell suggested the board repay Jenkins the $130 he paid for the pump. The board agreed. Jenkins cannot be paid for his labor. Jenkins said he did not do it to get paid.

There was extensive discussion on the facia boards of City Hall. A new roof has been ruled out. Jenkins said he walked the whole roof, but there was only one shingle that needs to be replaced.

Inside the building, city clerk Tracy Holcomb said three electrical receptacles need to be replaced. The board gave her permission to replace them with the cheapest bid that comes through from electricians.

Also the heating and air unit is leaking inside. There is water damage on the wall. The unit was scheduled to be checked Tuesday morning.

The board vote for Polk and Co. to be the accounting firm during the audit. Amy Byers will do the compilation.

Bills paid were the workman’s compensation insurance for $1,156.05 and Will Polk for the amended budget $1,210. There were no sewer bills.

The upcoming parade was discussed. Whosoever Church of God will host hot chocolate with Santa after the parade Sat., Dec. 7.

This week Pope Chapel is hosting the 150th Session and there will be extra traffic.

Whosoever Church of God will host a movie in the Lil’ Park Sat., Nov 16, at 5 p.m. There will be free popcorn and drinks.
