Mid-south Overstock opened its doors Nov. 1 and held a grand opening/ribbon cutting Wednesday morning.
Owner Steven Sinquefield of Senatobia said his stepson has some connections with overstock warehouses on the eastern seaboard and they decided to open an overstock warehouse here.
They are in the former Fred’s building in Sardis which gives them 12,000 square feet of space to work in. They are adding some high quality furniture including sofas and bedrooms in the next few weeks which will be highly discounted, Sinquefield said.
The bins at the front of the store are the real bargains. On Fridays, they get a brand new stock and items in the bins are $6. On Saturdays they drop to $5 and digress through the week.
Thursdays are the big days when bin items are 25¢ and in the afternoon, it gets even better. Sinquefield said they will sometimes have “fill a bag” for $5 in the hopes that all the bins are emptied on Thursday for fresh new stock on Friday.
Items on the shelves are a little more costly, but prices are dropped throughout the week.
Some items they have are toys, Disney character toys, sheets, linens, food, household cleaning products, home decorations, party supplies, bins of clothes and home and garden.
One of the premier departments located in the building is the Showcar products department manned by Tripp Pullen. “We have a full line of detail supplies, cleaning supplies for the home and auto. There are over 200 dealerships here in North Mississippi and the Memphis area,” Pullen said.
