NP drops district tilt to Water Valley

Cougars had 8-7 lead at halftime; couldn’t score in 2nd half
In what turned out to be a defensive struggle, Water Valley escaped the Cougar Den with a 10-8 victory over North Panola High School Thursday night.
After a scoreless first quarter, North Panola (6-3, 1-3 in district) took a 8-0 lead at the 10:10 mark of the second quarter as Carl Robinson connected with Steven Edwards on a 26-yard touchdown pass.
Limekiln Walls ran in the two-point conversion.
Water Valley added a late touchdown with 1:36 remaining in the half to make the score 8-7 at halftime.
The Blue Devils (7-2) then booted what turned out to be the winning field goal with 2:55 left in the third quarter to take a 10-8 lead.
North Panola was held scoreless in the second half.
The loss puts North Panola in a must win situation in order to make the playoffs Friday as they travel to Holly Springs to close out the regular season.
