Sept. 5

South Panola High School juniors and seniors are invited to College Night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the SPHS gym. Representatives from state colleges and universities, as well as branches of the military, will be available to meet with students and parents about future opportunities.  All juniors and seniors are encouraged to attend.

Sept. 10

The NAACP will meet Tuesday before the third Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the large meeting room of the Batesville Public Library.

Sept. 12

The Panola Partnership has partnered this year with the Mississippi Development Authority to participate in the “Made in Panola” career fair. The purpose of this fair is to introduce high school seniors and their parents to the many opportunities  in Panola County.  The fair will be held at the Batesville Civic Center. Many local and area businesses will be participating.

Sept. 14

Black Jack Community Center will have Karaoke Night from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Admission is $5 and concessions will be available. Good family fun. For more information, call 563-7060.

Sept. 28

The 11th annual Sardis Classic Open Car Show sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and Mississippi Delta Street Rods will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  There is a $20 entry and awards will be given at 3 p.m. Open to all makes of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and more. Sept. 30

Sister Mattie Richardson Fox and the Martin Luther King Crusaders are seeking applications for the 2019 Sadie L. Harrison Music Scholarship. Applications are due Sept. 30. The scholarship will be awarded at a banquet Saturday,  Oct. 12 at the Lester Hill Life Center.  Students with a major or minor in music who are currently enrolled in an institution of higher learning are urged to apply. Oct. 12

The third South Panola High School Decade of the 80s Reunion returns Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Batesville Lions Club. Fee is $35 per person. T-shirts and food will be extra. It is also bring your own beverage. The reunion will run from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. with special guest band Spunk Monkees, along with DJ Marky Mark (Mark Best).
