Edwards tapped as assistant superintendent

The South Panola School District Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Dr. Jamone Edwards as assistant superintendent during its monthly meeting June 18.

Edwards replaces Chad Spence who accepted the position of superintendent at Okolona and will begin his new role July 1.

A native of Batesville and a South Panola High School graduate, Edwards has 13 years of experience in the education field and has served as assistant superintendent at the North Panola School District since 2015.

Edwards held the principal’s post at North Panola High School from 2011-15 . He was a teacher’s assistant, bus driver, coach and lead teacher from 2005 to 2011.

Edwards received a Bachelor’s in Educational Psychology from Mississippi State University before earning a Master’s and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi.

He and his wife, Angela, have been married since 2007 and have a 5-year-old daughter, Faith.
