April 20
A community-wide Easter Egg Hunt will be next Saturday at the Boys and Girls Club. Registration is 9 to 10 a.m. Hunt begins at 10 a.m. Sponsored by local alumni fraternities, sororities, Finch-Henry Job Corps Center and Corol’s Inflatables.
April 27
Panola County’s Voter Registration Drive and Educational seminary will be held at Batesville Jr. High School auditorium. Free admission. Special drawing for youth ages 15 to 25 ( must be present to win). For more information, contact Dameon Cunningham at 710-5043 or email dcunningham@frcnms.org.
The Sardis Fire Department will have its first Fireman’s Gala and Silent Auction at the Heflin House in Sardis. Tickets are $25 single and $40 for couples. Keynote speaker is Clarence Parks of the Mississippi Fire Academy. Proceeds will benefit the fire department for turnout gear and more training.
Como Clean Up Day has been set for Saturday, April 27. Volunteers are to meet at the Como United Methodist Church between 7:30 & 8 a.m. for a light breakfast and road assignments. Bags and water for volunteers will be supplied. Volunteers to bring their own gloves and wear bright colors for safety reasons. Anne May Best, the owner of Windy City Grille, will be supplying the sausage & biscuits. MDOT supplies the trash bags. Como Community Club is supplying the water for volunteers. Como Main St. Alliance created flyers for advertising and Supervisor James Birge will pick up the bags of trash.

A spring Yard Sale in support of veterans in the Batesville area will be held at the VFW building on Highway 51 S. Please clean out closets and attics and bring the items to the VFW to help this worthy cause. For assistance getting items to the sale, or for more information, call Sandi at 372-0583.
May 10
The deadline for signing up for American Legion summer baseball is May 10. Registration fee is $50 per player. Forms can be picked up from Beth Austin at City Hall from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Players 12-15 years old are eligible. A league for players 16-18 years old will also be started if enough signups are received.
May 25
There will be a Crowder School Reunion beginning at 4 p.m. at the Crowder Baptist Church Family Life Center. Pot luck dinner starts at 5 p.m. All former students are invited.
May 28
The next Food Giveaway by the North Panola Mobile Food Pantry will be Tuesday, May 28, from noon to 2 p.m. at Cistern Hill Church in Como. Pick up vouchers are the following places: Crenshaw Library, Monday, May 13 from noon to 4 p.m.; at Sardis Library Friday, May 17, from noon to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, May 18, from 8 a.m. to noon and Wednesday, May 22, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Cistern Hill Church.

The South Panola Class of 1979 is planning its 40th year reunion
for Oct. 19. Contact 934-7281, 934-1272, or 703-0171 for more information or to help in the planning. All persons with connections to this class are urged to call. The reunion date is the day after the South Panola High School homecoming game in the fall.

The Panola County Election Commissioners meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Courthouse at 2 p.m.
The American Legion meets the third Tuesday of every month at the VFW at 5:30 p.m.
The Panola County Humane Society meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Batesville Public Library at 5:30 p.m.
Panola County Cancer Relief Organization meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Public Library at 6 p.m.

Batesville VFW Post 4968 and Auxiliary meets the first Thursday of every month at the VFW building at 6 p.m
Fridays
Al-Anon support group for family and friends of alcoholics will meet at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.
Saturdays
Every third Saturday of the moth, the Batesville Lions Club will have Karaoke Night starting at 6 p.m. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Lions Club building on Tiger Drive.
