Jan. 11
The Como Library will host Lunch with Books at noon featuring local author Patricia Neely-Dorsey, author of Meet My Mississippi. Bring a sack lunch if you wish. Drinks and dessert will be provided.

Recipients may pick up vouchers for the Mobile Food Pantry food giveaway (Jan. 22) on Friday, Jan. 11 from noon to 4 p.m. at Sardis Public Library, and on Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Cistern Hill Church.
Jan. 12
Blackjack Community Center will have Karaoke on Saturday afternoon from 5 to 10 p.m. There will be refreshments and family themed karaoke entertainment. All are invited to attend. Donation of $5 is asked for the upkeep of the center.
Jan. 12
The Como Rotary Club will have its annual pancake breakfast in the fellowship hall of Como United Methodist Church on Saturday, Jan. 12. Folks need to arrive between 7 and 9 a.m. Tickets are $5 per person. Tickets are available from from Morgan Graff, Abner Young, Sledge Taylor, Bill Wallace, or any Como Rotarian, or may be purchased at the door.

The Panola County Branch of the NAACP invites current and new members to the first meeting of the year, Tuesday, Jan. 15 at the Batesville Public Library at 6 p.m. The first meeting is Brainstorm: Our Concern. Meetings will be held the Tuesday before the third Sunday of each month at the Batesville Library at 6 p.m. unless a change is announced. J.P. Hudson Park will have a general meeting on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the TVEPA building.
The Como Library will host a Sewing Workshop at 2 p.m. Bring your machine and supplies, and work with an experienced seamstress to finish your projects!

The Mobile Food Pantry will have food distribution on Tuesday, Jan. 22, from noon to 2 p.m. at Cistern Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Como. Recipients may pick up vouchers on Friday, Jan. 11 from noon to 4 p.m. at Sardis Public Library, and on Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Cistern Hill Church.

The Como Library will host How Does it Work? at 4 p.m. The First Regional Library Tech Team will take a computer apart and show you how all the parts work together! For kids 2nd grade and up.

South Panola Parent Center will hold the workshop, “Understanding and Redirecting Misbehavior” Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Presenter is Dameon Cunningham, BSW, Field Educator, Family Resource Center of North MS in Como. Registration for baseball and softball for the spring at J.P. Hudson Park will be consecutive Saturdays, Feb. 2 & 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the TVEPA Building. Cost is $110 for first child and $75 for additional signups.

Class Reunion Planning Time! It has been nearly 50 years for the Patton Lane High School Class of 1969, and we are starting to plan for our Class Reunion in September 2019. We are looking for each Classmate to help with the planning. Please call or text Lottie Frison

Feb. 15
Pre-K registration for Batesville Elementary School will be held Feb. 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the two-story red brick building on the BES campus at 110 College St. Children must be four years old on, or before, Sept. 1, 2019, to register. School officials said parents/guardians should bring the following items: certified birth cerfiticate, immunization Form 121, Social Security card, two proofs of 911 address, proof of child’s health insurance, and proof of family income for the year 2018 (tax return or W-2 form).

The Panola County Election Commissioners meet the first Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Courthouse at 2 p.m.
The American Legion meets the third Tuesday of every month at the VFW at 5:30 p.m.
The Panola County Humane Society meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Batesville Public Library at 5:30 p.m.
Panola County Cancer Relief Organization meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Batesville Public Library at 6 p.m.

Batesville VFW Post 4968 and Auxiliary meets the first Thursday of every month at the VFW building at 6 p.m
Fridays
Al-Anon support group for family and friends of alcoholics will meet at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.
